Fondant is essentially an icing that is used to decorate cakes and other confections. It is made from sugar, water, and sometimes glucose or corn syrup. Fondant can be rolled out into thin sheets to cover cakes, sculpted into various shapes for cake decorations, or used as a filling for pastries and candies.
This type of fondant is ideal for covering cakes, providing a polished and professional look. It can also be moulded and shaped into various decorations.
Poured fondant is a thick and glossy glaze used for coating pastries, doughnuts, and petit fours. Poured fondant gives pastries a shiny finish and can be flavoured with extracts or liqueurs for added taste.
It is similar to rolled fondant but often contains added ingredients like gums (such as tylose or CMC) for improved elasticity and durability.
Whipped fondant is a light and fluffy filling used in cakes and pastries. This type of fondant adds sweetness and a soft texture to desserts, similar to whipped cream.
Gum paste dries hard, making it ideal for creating realistic flowers, leaves, figurines, and other detailed decorations.
