Getting into exercise and wanting to live healthier doesn't have to mean walking away from all of life's indulgences. As long as you drink smart and in moderation, you can continue to enjoy your favourite tipples. Here are some tips on how to do it.
Opt for light beers, dry wines, or spirits mixed with calorie-free mixers to reduce your overall calorie intake while enjoying a drink.
Set a maximum number of drinks per week and stick to it. Alcohol is high in calories and can hinder weight loss if consumed excessively.
Alternate alcoholic beverages with glasses of water to stay hydrated, reduce overall alcohol consumption, and help control calorie intake.
High-sugar mixers like sodas or juices can significantly increase the calorie content of your drink. Stick to low-calorie options like soda water or fresh lime juice.
Be mindful of the size of your drinks. Use smaller glasses or measure your alcohol to ensure you're not consuming more calories than you realise.
Alcohol consumed close to bedtime can disrupt your sleep patterns and hinder weight loss. Limit late-night drinking and prioritise quality sleep.
If you know you'll be drinking, adjust your daily calorie intake accordingly. Make healthier food choices and avoid high-calorie snacks to balance out the calories from alcohol.
