Monsoon season calls for a hot, strong cup of kadak chai to enjoy the rainy days. Here’s a simple recipe to make it at home.
2 cups water 1 cup milk 2 teaspoons loose black tea leaves or 2 tea bags 1-inch piece of ginger, grated 4-5 green cardamom pods, crushed 2 cloves 1 small cinnamon stick 2 black peppercorns 2 teaspoons sugar (adjust to taste)
In a saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add grated ginger, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and black peppercorns. Boil for 2-3 minutes.
Add tea leaves or tea bags and let it simmer for another 2 minutes. Pour in the milk and sugar, and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Strain the tea into cups and enjoy your kadak chai hot and fresh!
