Nannari sherbet is a famous South Indian drink made with the roots of a Nannari plant. The drink is also referred to as Indian Sarsaparilla syrup. It is a body coolant that purifies blood, aids in digestion, helps with weight loss, and boosts your overall well-being. Try its simple recipe.
1 liter water Ice cubes, for serving 100 grams of dried Nannari root 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 cup sugar (adjust to taste) Fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)
Wash Nannari roots thoroughly to get rid of dirt and grime. Add them to a pot of boiling water and let them simmer on a low flame for 20-25 minutes.
Once the colour of the water changes and its amount has reduced to half, allow the concoction to cool off.
Strain Nannari roots water through a sieve and mesh cloth to remove every small piece of root. Combine this with sugar and heat.
Once the sugar has dissolved, take the concoction off the stove and allow it to cool off again.
Add lemon juice to the mixture, pour it into a glass bottle, and refrigerate for a couple of hours at least.
Dilute the syrup in water to adjust sweetness, add ice cubes to the glass, and serve the drink.
