Uttar Pradesh-Style Dahi Aloo Recipe For A Comfort Meal

In Uttar Pradesh, dahi ke aloo is considered among comfort meals. The curd-based gravy featuring boiled potatoes and a garnish of fresh coriander leaves pairs well with paratha, roti, and rice. It is considered good for digestion and takes only 20 minutes to make. Here is the recipe for you to try out.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons ghee 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 2 boiled potatoes 1 cup beaten curd 1 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon red chilli powder 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves Salt to taste 2 dry red chillies 2 chopped green chillies 1.5 cups water

Step 1

Heat a kadhai and add a tablespoon of ghee or vegetable oil to it. 

Step 2

Add cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and green chillies to hot oil, and wait for the seeds to crackle. 

Step 3

Pour in curd and water into the kadhai. Keep stirring until the mixture comes to a boil.

Step 4

Add boiled potatoes to the mixture and salt to taste. Give it a good mix.

Step 5

When gravy comes to a boil, add tempering of ghee, red chilli powder, and dry red chilli.

Step 6

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve it hot.
