Unniyappam is a delightful South Indian snack that every person with a sweet tooth must savour. It is easy to make, and if you're a little creative, you can serve it with a few more components as a dessert.
2 ripe banana 1 cup jaggery 1 cup water 2 cup rice flour 2 tsp cardamom powder 1 tsp dry ginger powder ½ tsp baking soda Oil/ ghee for frying
Peel bananas and puree them in a blender.
Heat jaggery and water until you have a smooth paste, and mix it with bananas.
Sprinkle dry ginger powder and cardamom powder.
Add rice flour to thicken the batter. Add baking soda and let the batter ferment for 3-4 hours.
Heat an appam pan and add ghee to it. Pour a spoonful of batter into the moulds.
Flip over when the base is brown and serve unniyappam with fruit-based jams.
