Healthy, cheap and easy to cook, beans are a pantry staple for a reason. Plant-based protein for vegetarian and vegan recipes. Here are different types of beans and how to cook them
Firm yet creamy and mild earthy taste that goes with almost anything, especially sweet, spicy and other bold flavours.
Earthy, nutty beans with a creamy texture like black beans but not as firm so great for mashing into refried beans.
Cannellini beans are high in many nutrients and can be used to make Saucy Pizza Beans, toasted sourdough topped with cannellini beans, sauce and cheese and broiled until melty.
Also known as chickpeas, these buttery, nutty beans are in so many recipes. They have an ultra-firm texture that holds up in soups, salads and falafel.
Edamame beans are immature soybeans with a slightly sweet pea-like taste. Just steam the beans and use them in recipes like fried rice, noodle salads or soup.
Despite the name, these little round things are beans, with dark "eyes" in the middle. Dense and creamy texture that holds up well in stews.
