Whether you're a fan of Indian cuisine or simply looking to incorporate more nutritious and flavourful ingredients into your meals, green pea curry is a must-try dish that showcases the beauty of peas in all their glory.
2 cups green peas (fresh or frozen) 1 onion, finely chopped 2 tomatoes, pureed 2 green chillies, slit lengthwise 2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 1 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon coriander powder ½ teaspoon red chilli powder (adjust according to spice preference) ½ teaspoon garam masala ¼ cup coconut milk 2 tablespoons oil Salt to taste Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Heat oil in a pan or skillet over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
Add the ginger-garlic paste and slit green chillies. Sauté for a minute until the raw aroma disappears. Add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil starts to separate from the mixture.
Now, add the turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes. Add the green peas to the pan and stir to coat them with the spice mixture.
Simmer for 15-20 minutes. Once the peas are cooked, add the garam masala and coconut milk. Stir well and let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
Taste the curry and adjust the salt and spices according to your preference. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with steamed rice, naan, or roti.
