Caramel Custard is a classic dessert featuring a layer of caramel sauce topped with a creamy custard.
For the Caramel 1 cup sugar 1/4 cup water For the Custard 4 eggs 1/2 cup sugar 2 cups milk 1 tsp vanilla extract
In a pan, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of water. Heat it, swirling the pan gently until the sugar dissolves. Don’t stir.
Immediately pour the hot caramel into a large baking dish. Preheat the oven to 160°c.
In a separate pan, heat the milk until it is warm. Remove from heat and let it cool. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, 1/2 cup of sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Gradually add the warm milk to the egg mixture. Pour the custard mixture over the caramel in the baking dish. Place the dish in a larger baking pan filled with hot water.
Transfer the pan to the preheated oven. Bake for 45-60 minutes.
Remove the custard from the water bath and let them cool to room temperature. Then, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to fully set.
