Onion parathas are delicious, stuffed flatbreads made with spiced, finely chopped onions and whole wheat dough. Best enjoyed with yoghurt or pickle, they make a hearty meal.
2 cups whole wheat flour 2 onions 2 green chillies 1 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 1/2 tsp garam masala 1/2 tsp amchur 1 tbsp coriander leaves Salt Oil
In a bowl, mix the whole wheat flour, salt, and oil. Gradually add water to form a soft, smooth dough. Knead well for 5-7 minutes. Cover the dough and let it rest for about 20-30 minutes.
Combine the finely chopped onions, green chillies, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, garam masala, amchur powder, coriander leaves, and salt. Mix well.
Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the onions to release some moisture. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.
Take one ball and roll it into a small circle using a rolling pin. Place a spoonful of the onion filling in the centre of the circle. Bring the edges of the dough together to seal the filling inside, forming a stuffed dough ball.
Gently flatten the stuffed ball and roll it out into a paratha, being careful not to tear it. Heat a tawa and cook the paratha for 1-2 minutes until small bubbles appear.
Flip the paratha and apply a little oil or ghee on the cooked side.Cook until both sides are golden brown and crisp.
