Gur ka halwa, or jaggery halwa, is a lovely winter dessert. It is made with jaggery, ghee, and sooji, and it warms you up on cold winter nights and is full of flavour. It is quick to make and tastes like a traditional winter treat.
½ cup sooji ½ cup gur ¼ cup ghee 1 ½ cups water 2 tbsp chopped nuts (cashews, almonds) ¼ tsp cardamom powder
In a pan, add water and gur. Heat until gur melts completely. Strain and set aside.
In another pan, heat the ghee on medium flame. Add sooji and roast until it turns golden brown and smells nutty.
Slowly add the jaggery syrup to the roasted sooji, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
Continue stirring until the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
Add cardamom powder and nuts. Mix and cook for 2 minutes. Remove and serve hot.
