The popular South Indian breakfast, upma is usually made with suji or rava. But there are many healthier ways to spruce it up like oats, quinoa etc.
Full of nutrition, ragi upma is all things healthy and tasty. The thick porridge is mixed with lentils like chana and urad and spruced up with veggies.
This unique dish from Madhya Pradesh is made with bhutta aka corn kernels. Corn lends sweetness to the base along with flavours of coconut and curry leaves.
Ditch the boring oatmeal for this quick oats upma. Dry-roasted oats are mixed with onions and carrots and spiced up with cumin, curry leaves and crushed peanuts.
Sabudana is a fasting favourite in India and this recipe works well for healthy breakfast too. Tapioca pearls are soaked and then cooked with vegetables and spices.
The short-grain quinoa is the best substitute for rice but can be used for upma too. Tossed in similar fashion, the healthy grain keeps you full for longer.
