While it may sound spooky at first, this cocktail has been a favourite at the Quebec Winter Carnival each year. Made with caribou aka reindeer blood, red wine has replaced it now.
The cocktail is a sweet combination of red wine, maple syrup, whiskey and sugar. Sometimes, cinnamon and cardamom are also added to the mix during winters.
The cocktail is believed to be of French or Canadian origin, made with caribou aka reindeer blood in the olden days. It is replaced with red wine to give a deadly look nowadays.
Consumed by hunters and loggers working the chilly weather conditions, the caribou cocktail can be suited for both summers and winters now.
• 30 ml red wine • 30 ml whiskey • Sugar as per taste • A tablespoon of maple syrup • Pinch of cinnamon
Take a glass and add red wine and whiskey into it.
Mix it with maple syrup, sugar and cinnamon. Mix and stir well.
