Traditional Gujarati Chunda Recipe For A Summer-Special Pickle

Chunda is a traditional dish that originated in the state of Gujarat. It is a type of mango pickle or preserve that is combined with various spices and sweeteners. Chunda is one of the quintessential Gujarati pickles. Here's a recipe to try:

Ingredients

3 medium grated raw mangoes 1 ½ cups sugar 1 tsp salt 1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp cumin powder 1 tsp cardamom powder (optional) 1 tsp saffron strands (optional)

Step 1

Add sugar to a skillet with grated mangoes. After ten to fifteen minutes, let it settle.

Step 2

For 20 to 30 minutes, or until thickened, heat on medium while stirring.

Step 3

Add saffron, cardamom, cumin, chilli powder, and salt. Add another two to three minutes of cooking.

Step 4

Transfer to a jar once fully cool.
