Celebrate Janmashtami with a traditional twist by making Banana Malpua at home. This sweet and fragrant treat is a favourite during festivals, bringing together the rich flavours of banana, cardamom, and sugar syrup.
1 banana 1 cup milk 1 cup wheat flour 2 tbsp rava (semolina) 1 tsp fennel, crushed ¼ tsp cardamom powder 2 tbsp cream Oil for frying 1½ cup sugar 1½ cup water 3 cardamom pods Pinch saffron food colour
Blend the banana and ½ cup of milk until smooth. Transfer the banana puree to a bowl and add wheat flour, rava, fennel, cardamom powder, and cream.
Mix well, add more milk as needed, and whisk until the batter is smooth.
Rest the batter for 30 minutes to allow the flavours to blend.
Pour 2-3 tbsp of batter into hot oil and shallow fry until golden brown on both sides. Dip the fried Malpua in sugar syrup, soak for 2 minutes, and garnish with chopped nuts.
Serve the Banana Malpua warm, and enjoy this delightful treat during your Janmashtami celebrations.
