If you have a kitchen garden at your home, lemons are the zesty summer ingredient that you must plant. To have citrus juice for your summer dishes and beverages any time you want, here are some tips to grow healthy lemons.
Before you grow lemons, you should be mindful about choosing the right variety that suits your climate, type of soil, size of the tree, etc.
Lemon trees grow well in summer as they require a lot of sunlight. So, before planting the tree, ensure that the spot gets plenty of direct sunlight.
For the healthy growth of lemon trees, you need to keep the pH level of the soil to be slightly acidic, between 5.5 to 6.5.
During the first few years of the growth of a lemon tree, more water is required while ensuring that you water in batches to avoid overwatering.
Add fertilisers regularly to the planted lemon tree. But don’t fertilise in the winter season to avoid any potential frost damage.
