The diversity of India is not just evident in its culture but in its cuisine too. If you want to know what India eats for breakfast, here’s the platter.
Rajasthan is replete with variety deep-fried delicacies like kachoris that are devoured for breakfast. In fact, each region has their own like Jodhpur’s mogar ki kachori and Jaipur’s pyaaz kachori.
The favourite food of India’s capital, chole bhature is a combination of a spicy chickpea curry paired with deep-fried puffed breads like bhature.
The wide range of this Indian flatbread that one can make is quite amazing. From aloo to mooli, gobhi and dal , you’ll find parathas of all kinds, topped with ghee and butter.
Steamed rice cakes are quite popular, not just in South India, but across the country, for breakfast today. Paired with sambhar and coconut chutney, it is a must-have.
Another South Indian favourite is this desi crepe that can range from a coconut rava dosa to a masala dosa, stuffed with mashed potatoes.
The beaten rice dish is spruced up with veggies and spices and served as kanda poha, tari poha, poha jalebi and much more.
These are desi-style scrambled eggs usually made in Parsi households. The creamy and spicy texture makes them a breakfast favourite.
Go to Hyderabad and you won’t be able to resist the aroma of freshly-made lamb curry called nihari that is paired with kulchas for breakfast.
Interestingly, this bun-shaped bread can be paired in numerous ways as vada pav, samosa pav, misal pav and much more. In fact, ros omelette from Goa is also eaten with poi bread.
The deep-fried Indian bread is made with wheat flour, rolled into round shapes and eaten with a potato curry.
