Tomato Flaxseed Chutney: A Protein Rich Accompaniment To Idli And Dosa

A simple condiment whose nutritional value can be upped effectively with the use of flaxseeds, sesame seeds and coconut – this chutney is perfect to consume during the winters for good fats and minerals. Enjoy it with idli, dosa, upma, pongal and vada for a satisfying breakfast to kickstart your day.

INGREDIENTS

1 large tomato ½ cup grated coconut 1 tablespoon flaxseeds 1 tablespoon sesame seeds 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon sugar 1 teaspoon mustard seeds 6-7 curry leaves 1 teaspoon red chilli powder 1 tablespoon vegetable oil Salt, to taste

STEP 1

Roast the tomato over an open flame and place in a blender jar with everything except the mustard seeds, curry leaves and vegetable oil.

STEP 2

Grind to a smooth paste and transfer to a serving bowl.

Heat the oil in a pan and temper the mustard seeds and curry leaves.

Once they begin to splutter, pour the hot tempering over the chutney and mix well to combine.
