Tofu has a soft, custard-like consistency which usually ranges depending on its water content. Paneer typically has a crumblier, slightly denser texture that holds its shape well in curries.

Tofu generally has a lower environmental footprint than paneer due to its plant-based nature and water-efficient production. Since paneer is a dairy product, it has an impact on the environment.
