Tips To Save Traditional Indian Cookware

By Shireen Jamooji

We all have at least one pot in our kitchen that our mums won't let us use.  These legacy pieces need a lot of love and care to stay in prime condition. Here's how you can save your traditional Indian cookware.

Cast Iron

Cast Iron can last a lifetime if treated well. Remember to always be gentle, and to season and dry it thoroughly every use.

Soapstone

Since Soapstone can absorb detergents, it should only ever be cleaned with water and a damp cloth.

Bronze

Avoid anything abrasive since it can easily scuff the surface and you'll lose the signature shine.

Clay

Clay is very porous and needs to be dried thoroughly after every wash to avoid mould.
