This Gujarati Sev Tameta Nu Shaak Is The Perfect Lunch Dish

A traditional yet simple Gujarati dish, Sev Tameta Nu Shaak can be whipped up in half an hour and relished with fresh rotis. Here is the recipe for you to try out.

Ingredients

2 cups tomatoes, finely chopped ½ tsp ginger paste 2 green chillies, chopped ½ tsp mustard seeds ½ tsp cumin seeds ¼ tsp asafoetida ½ tsp turmeric powder ½ tsp red chilli powder ½ tsp cumin-coriander powder ½ tsp sugar 2 tbsp oil Salt, to taste ½ cup water ¾ cup thick sev Coriander leaves, for garnish

Step 1

Heat oil in a large wok, then add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, ginger paste and asafoetida.

Step 2

Once these stop spluttering, add the tomatoes, green chillies, turmeric, red chilli, cumin-coriander powder and salt.

Step 3

Saute and fry the tomatoes for 5 minutes, then add water and cook until done.

Step 4

Adjust the salt and add sugar. Transfer the gravy into a bowl. Top with sev and coriander leaves before serving.
