These Indian Delicacies Hold Top Spots On The World's Best Dishes List

In a recent announcement, the food guide Taste Atlas highlighted several culinary achievements over the past year, 2023–24. Several well-known Indian dishes are among the dishes that are placed on the list. Listed below are some of the Indian dishes that proved to be the most popular.

Basmati Rice 

Basmati long-grain rice has a distinct taste and scent. Grain uniqueness is preserved when cooked. The best basmati rice has longer grains and a delicate golden colour. It is traditionally farmed in India.

Lassi 

Three varieties of lassi—mango, plain, and sweet—made it into the top ten dairy beverages in the world. Top awards went to Mango Lassi, a delicious dessert made with yoghurt and juicy mango.

Garam Masala 

Garam Masala, an Indian spice blend, was named the best seasoning in the world. Cinnamon, cardamom, peppercorns, cloves, and cumin are all part of the ground spice blend that originates from the Indian subcontinent.

Butter Chicken 

Among the top 10 chicken meals from around the world, two were Indian. Butter chicken, or Murgh makhani as it is known outside of India, is a staple dish in many Indian restaurants. Its origins can be traced to the 1950s in Delhi, when the cook unintentionally discovered its unique flavour.

Chicken Tikka 

After Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka is a tasty dish made with boneless chicken sliced into smaller pieces and marinated in yoghurt and real Indian spices like turmeric, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, chilli, garlic, and ginger. The marinated beef is tandoor-roasted over charcoal.

Butter Garlic Naan 

When it comes to the best bread in the world, the Butter Garlic Naan is in second place. The dough is heated in a tandoor oven until it turns a deep golden colour; then, it is brushed with ghee or butter and sprinkled with minced garlic.

Chai Masala 

India's aromatic chai masala ranked third globally among non-alcoholic drinks, behind mango lassi. Sweetened black tea and milk infused with cardamom, crushed ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and black peppercorns make this delicious drink.
