Thatte Idli: Try The South Indian Dish With This Easy Recipe

Thatte idli is a unique South Indian dish. Unlike the traditional idlis, thatte idlis are distinguished by their flat and thin texture Here’s how you can make the breakfast staple at home.

Ingredients

1 cup idli rice 1/2 cup urad dal 1 tsp fenugreek seeds Salt to taste Water as needed Oil for greasing

Step 1

Wash and soak rice and urad dal. Drain the water after 4-5 hours.

Step 2

Grind the soaked urad dal with fenugreek seeds. Add water to make a smooth paste. Set aside.

Step 3

Grind the soaked idli rice. Mix with urad dal batter till consistent.

Step 4

Cover the batter and let it ferment till fluffy.

Step 5

Grease a thatte idli plate and pour the batter into it.

Step 6

Steam for 10-15 minutes and serve with sambar and coconut chutney.
