Recently the 2023 International Sauvignon Blanc Challenge was held in San Francisco, California. This is one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world and is judged by a panel of 50 wine experts. This year, top 10 wines were awarded gold. Take a look: 

Didier Dagueneau Pouilly-Fumé Asteroide 2008 

It is the white wine from the Loire Valley in France. It is known for its intense flavours of grapefruit, lemon, and minerality. It is made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes. 

Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux 2013 

It is a remarkable white wine from Bordeaux, France. The critics praised it for complexity, elegance, and freshness. It is flavoured with citrus, floral, and mineral aromas. 

Edmond Vatan Sancerre Clos la Neore 2008

Dana Estates Hershey Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2015 

This is a stunning wine from Howell Mountain, Napa Valley. It is made from 100 percent Sauvignon Blanc grapes. It has rich aroma of grapefruit, passionfruit, and white flowers.  

Melka 'Mekerra' White 2016 

Hailing from Knights Valley AVA, California, it is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. It is full-bodied and creamy on the palate, offering citrus, tropical fruit, and minerality.

It has a complex aroma of white flowers, citrus, minerality, and spice. Perfect when paired with grilled fish, seafood, or goat cheese.  

Lail Vineyards Georgia Sauvignon Blanc 2015 

It is a limited release wine from the Georgia AVA in Napa Valley. It displays a deep golden colour with grapefruit, passionfruit, and white flower aromas. It is a complex and flavourful wine for special occassions.

Didier Dagueneau Pouilly-Fumé Silex 2005

This is a highly rated wine showcasing minerality, acidity, and complexity. It undergoes fermentation and aging in French oak barrels. Tasting notes reveal flint, lemon, white flowers, minerality, grapefruit, passionfruit, and white peach. 

Francois Cotat Sancerre Cuvee Paul 2017

It is a high-quality Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre, France. It has a pale yellow colour, and offers aromas of white flowers, citrus fruits, and flint. Enjoy with seafood, poultry, or cheese. 

Kumeu River Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2019
