Tarri Poha: Nagpur Special Snack Recipe For Summer

Tarri poha is Nagpur’s special snack recipe that marries well with ginger or masala tea. It is nutritious and has an easy-to-follow recipe. Here is a quick guide to making tarri poha at home.

Ingredients

½ teaspoon cumin & mustard seeds 1 teaspoon hing 1 cup kala chana 1 chopped onion 1 teaspoon red chilli powder 3 cloves 1 bay leaf Salt to taste ½ teaspoon turmeric powder 2 teaspoons of oil ½ teaspoon black pepper 6-8 curry leaves

Step 1

Soak kala chana overnight and cook it in the pressure cooker the next morning with some water and salt to taste.

Step 2

In a kadhai, add oil, mustard seeds, and cumin seeds. Once seeds start to splutter, add slit green chillies (optional), hing, bay leaf, curry leaves, and cloves.

Step 3

If you like, you can add chopped ginger and garlic at this stage to make the dish more flavoursome.

Step 4

Add chopped onions to the pan and saute them until they turn translucent. 

Step 5

Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, hing, goda masala, and black pepper powder.

Step 6

Add boiled chana and cook for 10 minutes. Garnish it with lemon juice and coriander leaves and serve it with poha and chopped onions.
