Turmeric is generally added as a powdered spice to various dishes, enhancing the flavour and giving the dishes a unique, vibrant yellow colour. But did you know you can have raw turmeric pickle, which tastes absolutely delicious with rice and dal? Give this recipe a try!

250g fresh turmeric root 2 tablespoons mustard seeds 1 tablespoon fenugreek seeds 1/2 cup mustard oil 1 teaspoon asafoetida (hing) 1 tablespoon red chilli powder 1 tablespoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon fennel seeds 1 teaspoon nigella seeds (kalonji) Salt to taste 1/4 cup vinegar

Simply dry roast mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds and grind them. Mix the mustard-fenugreek powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, fennel seeds, nigella seeds, and salt.

Heat some oil, add asafoetida (hing), and pour into spices.
