Valentine’s week has already begun and we can’t wait for the official day to arrive. Apart from gifting presents and having a full-fledged meal, the day completes by gulping in sweets and desserts. For the couples out there, make this Valentine’s Day a little special by adding rose-flavoured desserts to your palate.
It’s hard to resist when we are offered Gulab Jamun at the end of our meal. Gulab means rose, which refers to rose syrup, while Jamun is a deep purple-colored berry, which the dumplings resemble.
The barfi is flavoured with the use of fresh and dry rose petals. Besides, a mild pink colour is added to the barfi which signifies love.
This Indian dessert is made by curdling the milk into ‘chena’. The rose flavour comes from rose syrup. Also, a light pink tinge is added to the Kalakand.
Sheera or malwa is a thick flour pudding that is made of atta or sooji. However, for this one, we give a gulabi twist by adding pink colour to it.
