Packed with complex carbs, protein and good fats, this delicious puran poli stuffed with sweet potatoes is the ultimate sweet treat for health freaks.
¼ cup chana dal, cooked 2 small sweet potatoes, boiled ¼ cup brown sugar 1 teaspoon cardamom powder 1 small pinch nutmeg powder Pinch of salt
½ cup maida 3 tablespoons whole wheat flour 2 tablespoons rice flour 1 teaspoon sugar 4 teaspoons ghee ¼ cup water ¼ teaspoon salt Ghee, for pouring
Mix together the dry ingredients of the dough and knead with the ghee and water, until it turns into a soft, smooth ball.
Allow the dough to rest and mash the chana dal and sweet potatoes together through a sieve.
Add the mixture to a pan with the sugar and spices and pinch of salt.
Combine until the mash turns into a smooth, slightly solidified texture.
Allow it to cool completely before replicating the same steps as making a puran poli.
Cook the stuffed, rolled out poli on a hot tawa for 3-4 minutes on each side.
Pour over lots of ghee and eat when warm.
