For those who want to satisfy their sweet tooth without eating too much sugar, banana ice cream is a great option. This easy, dairy-free treat is made with just one ingredient: bananas. You can change the sugar level or other flavours to suit your tastes.
Frozen Ripe bananas Optional flavourings Toppings chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or coconut flakes
Peel ripe bananas, slice them into coins, and place them in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for at least 2-3 hours or until solid.
Once the bananas are frozen, transfer them to a blender or food processor. Add any desired flavourings, such as cocoa powder or peanut butter, for added flavour.
Blend the frozen bananas until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides of the blender or food processor as needed. If necessary, add a splash of milk or non-dairy milk to help blend the mixture.
Once the mixture reaches a smooth and creamy consistency, transfer it to a bowl and serve immediately for a soft-serve texture. Alternatively, transfer the mixture to a freezer-safe container and freeze for an additional 1-2 hours for a firmer consistency.
Before serving, allow the banana ice cream to soften slightly at room temperature for a few minutes. Serve with optional toppings such as chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or coconut flakes for added texture and flavour.
Enjoy your homemade banana ice cream as a refreshing and nutritious treat that's sure to satisfy your sweet cravings without the guilt!
