Kheer is an Indian version of pudding made by boiling rice with milk and sugar. It is flavoured with cardamom and saffron to give it a delectable aroma with nuts like cashews, pistachios or almonds added for a crunchy bite. Remove sugar and you've a healthy version of a classic dessert. Here's the recipe for sugar free apple kheer recipe.

500 ml milk 1 tsp ghee 1/3 cup chopped dates 1 medium apple grated 5-7 cashews, chopped 5-7 almonds, chopped 8-10 raisins

Heat milk and once it boils, add chopped dates and let it simmer for about 7-8 minutes. Then add cashews, raisins and almonds and cook for another 2-3 mins and cool it.

Heat ghee in another pan and add grated apples. Cook this mixture on a medium flame for about 8-9 mins and cool it. Add the apple mixture to milk and mix well and refrigerate for 2-3 hours before serving.
