One of the most used ingredients in the kitchen is garlic. Wouldn’t it be fun to grow garlic in your kitchen? Here is a step-by-step guide for you to grow this vegetable at home without chemical fertilisers and pesticides.
Pick up healthy garlic bulbs and prepare a shallow container by draining small holes into it. Add a blend of perlite, compost, and vermiculite.
Break apart cloves of garlic and plant them in small containers with a pointy head facing upwards.
Place these containers in the section of the house that receives sunlight for at least 6-8 hours a day.
Keep watering the plants every day, neither too much nor too little. Add some good-quality fertiliser to the soil, but not too much.
Mulch the soil by adding organic leaves or waste. This will help with the retention of water and suppress the growth of weeds.
Keep monitoring the growth of plants, and watch out for signs of nutrient deficiencies, diseases, and pests.
In 8-10 months, the plants will mature, and you will be ready to harvest them. Dig out the bulbs and enjoy home-grown garlic.
