This all-time favourite breakfast dish Tomato upma is absolutely simple, quick and is surely a flavourful one to start your morning.
1 cup semolina (rava/sooji) 1 large onion, chopped 2 medium tomatoes, chopped 2 green chillies, chopped 1 tsp ginger, grated 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 sprig curry leaves 2 tbsp oil or ghee 2 cups water Salt to taste Coriander leaves, chopped for garnish
Grab a pan. Heat ghee or oil. Add curry leaves, cumin seeds, and mustard seeds.
Add the grated ginger, green chilies, and chopped onions. Sauté onions until they become transparent.
Add 2 cups of water and salt to taste. 3. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for a few minutes. It should boil.
Lower the heat to a low setting and gradually whisk in the semolina to avoid lumps.
Combine thoroughly and place a lid on the pan. 5-7 minutes on low heat should be plenty to cook the upma and absorb the water.
Next, turn off the heat and add chopped coriander leaves as a garnish. Serve hot
