Chakli is a crunchy Indian snack made from spiced rice flour dough, shaped into spirals, and deep-fried. It’s a popular treat perfect for any occasion.
1 cup rice flour 1/2 cup gram flour (besan) 1/4 cup urad dal flour 1 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tsp chilli powder 1/2 tsp ajwain (carom seeds) 1/2 tsp sesame seeds Salt to taste 2 tbsp hot oil (for dough) Oil for deep frying
In a bowl, mix rice flour, gram flour, urad dal flour, cumin seeds, turmeric, chilli powder, ajwain, sesame seeds, and salt. Add hot oil and mix well.
Gradually add water to the mixture, kneading until a smooth dough forms.
Using a chakli mould or piping bag, shape the dough into spiral patterns.
Heat oil and carefully slide the shaped chaklis into the hot oil until golden brown.
Drain on a napkin and allow them to cool. Store and serve!
