Matar chaat in North India is a must-have, especially in winter. Boiled peas topped with different kinds of chutney and toppings make it a treat for taste buds. While you can savour this delight at a street food joint, nothing beats the joy of making it home and enjoying it without counting bucks.
1 cup peas 1 boiled potato 1 tbsp oil 2 cups water 1 tsp cumin powder 1 chopped onion, tomato 1 tsp red chilli powder, ginger ½ tsp turmeric, garam masala 1 tbsp chopped coriander Salt to taste 1 tbsp green chutney 1 tbsp tamarind pulp
Soak peas for 6-8 hours and boil in a pressure cooker with turmeric powder for 4-5 whistles.
Chop the vegetables and keep them ready.
Take a bowl and pour a generous serving of matar in it.
Add chopped vegetables on the top along with spices and chutney.
Mix the ingredients well. Sprinkle chaat masala on the top.
Before serving, add chopped coriander leaves and enjoy the tangy chaat.
