Spicy And Tangy Amla Pickle From Andhra

This spicy amla pickle recipe, will definitely tickle your mouth! It goes well with any meal and tastes delicious!

Ingredients

1/2 kg fresh Indian gooseberries (amla) 1/2 cup mustard oil 1/2 cup red chili powder 2 tsp of fenugreek seeds (methi) 1 tsp of mustard seeds 1 tsp of turmeric powder 1 tsp of salt 1/4 teaspoons of asafetida (hing) 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid 2-3 tsp of jaggery (optional)

Step 1

Thoroughly clean and dry the gooseberries. After removing the seeds, slice each amla into small pieces.

Step 2

Now In a pan, heat mustard oil until it begins to smoke. Turn off the heat and let it cool.

Step 3

Roast Fenugreek seeds and mustard seeds separately roasted in a dry pan. Now Make a fine powder by grinding.

Step 4

Now in a bowl Add salt, asafetida, powdered fenugreek and mustard powders, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, asafetida, and red chilli powder

Step 5

Mix it all thoroughly. Add the gooseberry chunks into the spice mixture until they are completely covered.

Step 6

Now add the cooled mustard oil to the mixture. Mix thoroughly after adding citric acid to the mixture.

Step 7

Add your preferred sweetener, like jaggery. And keep it in a clean jar.For 3–4 days, keep the container in direct sunshine.

Step 8

Every day, stir the pickle. Enjoy with rotis and paranthas!
