Spices You Should Avoid During Chaitra Navratri

Only Satvik food is allowed to be consumed during Navratri and some spices that we regularly use in the kitchen do not make the cut. Let us look at spices that we cannot eat during Chaitra Navratri.

Garam Masala

This spice, made with several other spices roasted together is not allowed during Navratri.

Haldi

The basic requirement of Navratri is to have food made without turmeric powder.

Methi

Another spice that is commonly used as tadka in our kitchens is avoided during the Holy festival.

Hing

Asafoetida or hing is another spice that should definitely be avoided.

Dhaniya Powder

This spice is considered to be tamsik food and hence is avoided while cooking.
