Only Satvik food is allowed to be consumed during Navratri and some spices that we regularly use in the kitchen do not make the cut. Let us look at spices that we cannot eat during Chaitra Navratri.
This spice, made with several other spices roasted together is not allowed during Navratri.
The basic requirement of Navratri is to have food made without turmeric powder.
Another spice that is commonly used as tadka in our kitchens is avoided during the Holy festival.
Asafoetida or hing is another spice that should definitely be avoided.
This spice is considered to be tamsik food and hence is avoided while cooking.
