Masala Coffee blends milk and aromatic spices to create a warm, flavourful beverage. Topped with frothy foam and garnished with cinnamon and cocoa, it’s the perfect café-style drink to enjoy at home.
500 ml full cream milk or almond milk 2 tbsp granulated sugar or sweetener of choice 6 green cardamom pods ½ inch piece of ginger 1½-2 tbsp instant coffee or decaf 5 cm cinnamon stick ¼ tsp ground cinnamon (for garnish) ½ tsp cocoa (for garnish)
Heat the milk and sugar in a saucepan on low heat until it starts boiling.
Lightly pound the cardamom pods and ginger, then add them to the milk.
Add the instant coffee and cinnamon stick, stirring well to combine.
Simmer the mixture for three minutes, ensuring it doesn’t overflow. Remove from heat and strain the coffee through a fine sieve.
Pour the coffee into glasses, top with foam, and garnish with cinnamon and cocoa.
