Rasam rice is an all-season combo that can satisfy your hunger while leaving your taste buds tantalised. It is one of the few dishes that people across age groups love to indulge in. This is your guide to making tomato rasam at home.
7-8 garlic cloves ⅓ coriander stems 1-inch ginger ¼ tsp peppercorn, turmeric 2 tsp cumin seeds 1.75 cups tomatoes 2 red chillies ½ tsp mustard seeds, urad dal 10-12 curry leaves A pinch of hing 1 tbsp sambar powder Salt to taste 2-3 tbsp coriander leaves 1.5 cups water 1 tbsp oil
Blend tomatoes, coriander stems, garlic, peppercorn, cumin seeds, and ginger into a coarse paste.
Take a heavy-bottom pan and heat the oil in it. Let the mustard seeds crackle before adding urad dal.
Add red chillies and stir the ingredients. Add the coarse tomato paste and let everything cook on a low flame.
Pour water and add sambar or rasam powder mix. Let the ingredients come to a boil.
Keep the consistency water-like. Turn off the flame.
Garnish rasam with coriander leaves and serve with steamed rice.
