South Indian-Style Rava Upma For A Nutritious Breakfast

South Indian cuisine is considered to be one of the healthiest breakfast and snack options. If you are looking for a quick recipe, try making rava upma for a nutritious and tasty South Indian breakfast.

Ingredients

1 cup rava suji 3 cups water 1/2 tablespoon ghee 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds 1 teaspoon urad dal 1 teaspoon chana dal 10-12 cashew nuts 1 onion 1 green chilli 1 teaspoon grated ginger 8-10 curry leaves Salt to taste Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

Step 1

Dry roast the suji for about three to four minutes and set it aside.

Step 2

Heat ghee and cook mustard seeds till they splutter. Add urad dal and chana dal and fry till golden brown.

Step 3

Add chopped cashew nuts, curry leaves, green chilli, and grated ginger and saute.

Step 4

Mix in chopped onions and cook till soft. Then, add water and salt and let it boil.

Step 5

Turn the heat to low and keep stirring till the suji absorbs most of the water.

Step 6

Once the upma is of the desired consistency, garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
