Podi masala dosa is a traditional South Indian breakfast option that combines the crispiness of a dosa with a spicy podi masala. To make the most of your breakfast, hereâs an easy recipe to try at home.
2 tbsp sesame seeds 1/4 cup urad dal 1/4 cup chana dal 6 dried red chillies 2 tbsp dry coconut 1 small tamarind ball 1/4 tsp turmeric powder A pinch of asafoetida 1 tsp salt Dosa batter as required Oil for cooking
Dry roast sesame seeds and grind them into a powder.
In the same pan, roast urad dal, chana dal, dried red chillies, and dry coconut. Let it cool.
Grind the roasted mixture with tamarind, turmeric, hing, and salt into a coarse powder. Store it.
Prepare the usual batter of dosa. Heat a non-stick pan and pour a ladleful of batter.
Spread it into a thin circle and cook on both sides. Add the podi to the cooked dosa.
Fold the dosa and serve with sambar and coconut chutney.
