Jowar dosa, a delightful and nutritious variant of the traditional dosa, is a fantastic way to incorporate the goodness of sorghum (jowar) into your diet. You can pair the dosa with sambar and coconut chutney. Here's how you can make this healthy treat at home.
1 cup jowar flour 1/2 cup rice flour 1/4 cup urad dal (split black gram) 1/4 cup chana dal (split chickpeas) 1 tablespoon fenugreek seeds Salt to taste Water as needed Oil for cooking
Rinse and soak the urad dal, chana dal, and fenugreek seeds in water for 4-6 hours. Drain and grind them into a smooth batter, adding water as needed.
In a large bowl, mix the ground dal paste with jowar flour and rice flour. Add water gradually to form a smooth, pourable batter. Add salt and mix well. Let the batter rest for 1-2 hours for fermentation.
Heat a dosa tawa on medium heat and grease lightly with oil. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the tawa and spread it in a circular motion to form a thin dosa. Drizzle a little oil around the edges. Cook until the edges start to lift and the dosa turns golden brown.
Serve hot jowar dosas with coconut chutney and sambar for a complete meal.
