Mini idlis, also known as button or cocktail idlis, are soft, spongy, bite-sized versions of traditional rice idlis. Button idlis are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or kids' lunchboxes.
1 cup regular rice 1 cup parboiled rice ½ cup whole or split urad dal ¼ cup thick poha ¼ tsp fenugreek seeds 2 cups water for soaking rice
1 cup water for soaking urad dal ½ cup water for grinding urad dal ¾ to 1 cup Water for grinding rice 1 tsp rock salt Oil: as required for greasing moulds 2 to 2.5 cups water for steaming idli
Soak regular rice, parboiled rice, and poha in 2 cups of water.
Soak urad dal and fenugreek seeds in 1 cup water.
Grind soaked urad dal with ½ cup water until smooth.
Grind soaked rice mixture with ¾ to 1 cup water.
Mix both batters, add salt, and ferment overnight.
Grease idli moulds, pour batter, and steam for 10-12 minutes.
Let idlis cool, remove, and serve hot with sambar or chutney.
