When it comes to Punjabi cuisine, one is in for a rich and flavourful ride. From tandoori chicken to stuffed kulchas and fried fish, here are some classic Punjabi snacks to devour.
The chargrilled chicken legs, coated in a marination of yoghurt, herbs and spices, is one of the most popular snacks and is usually paired with mint chutney and onion rings.
Right from the land of kulchas, you’ll find aloo, gobhi, paneer and plenty of other stuffed kulchas in Amritsar. They are accompanied with dollops of butter.
]The crispy, conical pastry has been well-adapted by the Punjabis to suit their palate. The thick maida dough covers a spicy potato filling that is deep-fried and served with imli chutney.
This fried fish delicacy from Amritsar is a must-have. Coated in a batter of besan, yoghurt and spices, the fish fillets are deep-fried until golden-brown.
The crispy and flaky snack from Punjabi is a regional variation of mathri. Made with flour and water, the matthi is often flavoured with carom seeds.
