Melting chocolate on the stovetop is the first step in making chocolate mousse, homemade treats, and other delicious desserts like chocolate sauce and ganache frosting.
Set a pot of water on the stove and bring to a boil.
Reduce to a low simmer once boiling.
Put chocolate in a dry, heat-safe bowl that fits snugly over the pot.
Place the bowl on simmering water and stir frequently until melted.
Maintain the lowest heat and keep stirring until the chocolate reaches 110°–115°F.
Carefully remove the bowl from the hot water pan.
