Spaghetti Bolognese is a classic Italian pasta dish. It consists of al dente spaghetti noodles served with a rich and hearty meat sauce, often made with minced meat or vegetables. This beloved recipe is both uncomplicated and delicious.
350g lean minced chicken or lamb 1 onion, finely chopped 1 carrot, grated 1 celery stalk, finely chopped 2 cloves of garlic, minced 400 gm canned chopped tomatoes 2 tbsps tomato puree 1 tsp dried oregano 1 tsp dried basil 300 gm spaghetti Olive oil Salt and pepper, to taste
Heat a little olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for about 5 minutes until it's soft and translucent.
Add the minced garlic, grated carrot, and chopped celery to the pan. Cook for another 5 minutes until they soften.
Add the minced meat to the pan. Cook and stir until it's browned and broken into small pieces.
Stir in the canned chopped tomatoes, tomato puree, dried oregano, and dried basil. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. Drain when it's al dente (firm to the bite).
Serve the bolognese sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Optionally, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
