6 pc ilish or hilsa fish 3 tbsp mustard paste 6-7 green chillies Mustard oil for frying 1 tsp paanch foran 1 tsp dhaniya powder 1 tsp jeera powder Salt as per taste Turmeric powder
Marinate the fish pieces with salt and turmeric. Heat up mustard oil in a kadhai.

Fry the ilish maach on medium flame for 2 minutes on each side. Keep the pieces away.

In the same kadhai, add paan phoran and when it splutters, add the mustard paste.

Mix salt, haldi, dhaniya and jeera powder. Add water according to the consistency you want.

Add the split green chillies and fried ilish. Cook on a medium flame for 2 mins and take off the heat. Add 1 tbsp mustard oil for pungent taste.
