As per the Hindu calendar, during Sawan, or the month of Shravan, many devotees observe a fast or generally avoid eating onion and garlic. If you are looking for no-onion and garlic recipes, here’s a list.
Sabudana khichdi is a popular fasting dish that is made with sabudana, potatoes, peanuts, green chillies, and spices.
Made with buckwheat flour (kuttu), these pooris are a great alternative to wheat-based ones during Sawan.
Potatoes are the go-to vegetable while fasting. The easiest no-onion and garlic recipe would be the comforting aloo jeera.
Be it for breakfast or a snack, you can make sabudana tikki with mashed potatoes, soaked sabudana and a blend of spices.
If you’re not using table salt, having curd as is can be difficult. But you can make the healthy beetroot raita.
To end your day on a sweet note, you can make makhane ki kheer with milk, sugar, and dry fruits.
