Sawan, the auspicious month of fasting and devotion, calls for a Satvik lunch that is light, nutritious, and prepared without onions, garlic, or any strong spices. Here are five tips to help you prepare a wholesome Satvik lunch during Sawan.
Opt for fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables that are abundant during Sawan. Include nutrient-rich vegetables like lauki, kaddu and leafy greens.
Incorporate wholesome grains and pulses like rice, whole wheat, moong dal, and lentils into your menu, that provide nutrients & are gentle on the digestive system.
Satvik cooking emphasizes using ghee or sesame oil for preparation. These traditional cooking mediums not only add a great flavour but also have many health benefits.
While preparing Satvik meals, use mild spices like cumin, coriander, and fennel seeds, as they are easier to digest. Fresh herbs like mint and basil are great too.
Dairy products like curd, milk, and paneer are essential components of a Satvik lunch. Add nuts for a well-balanced meal.
