1 cup rice 1 cup toor dal 3 tbsp sambhar powder 1 cup diced pumpkin 5-6 dram sticks 1 chopped brinjal 1 chopped tomato 1 medium onion sliced Chopped garlic 1 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp cumin powder 4 tbsp tamarind pulp
Mustard oil Mustard seeds Cumin seeds 4-5 red chillies Methi seeds Curry leaves
In a pressure cooker, heat up mustard oil and add the tempering ingredient. Cook for a couple of minutes.
Next, add all the chopped veggies and the powdered spices, along with salt. Cook for 5-6 minutes till the raw smell is gone.
Now, add water along with the dal and rice and let it cook for a minute.
Add tamarind pulp and close the lid. Cook till 6 whistles on a low flame. Open the lid after the steam escapes.
Serve the sambhar rice hot. Sprinkle some ghee if you want and enjoy!
