If you've over-diluted your sauce or gravy and are looking to bring it back to the desired consistency, follow these simple tips to rectify the issue.
Make a roux, add it to your gravy, and let it cook for a few minutes to thicken the sauce.
Mix corn starch with a small amount of cold liquid like water, broth, or milk to create a smooth slurry.
Similar to corn starch, arrowroot can be mixed with cold liquid to create a slurry which can be added to gravy while stirring.
Drop in a wedge or two of potatoes into your gravy or sauce to let it absorb the excess liquid and thicken your flavoursome liquid.
Simply simmering the gravy uncovered for an extended period can naturally reduce the liquid content and thicken the sauce.
If appropriate for your dish, blend cooked beans and then stir the puree into the gravy to add flavour as well as nutrition.
